Born in Haiti. Raised in Brooklyn. Summoned to rooms most people only read about. Here's why that person is Jeff Lindor.
"I never set out to build an institution. I set out to answer a question: where do Black men go to build together?"
Jeff Lindor was born in Haiti and raised in Brooklyn — and he has spent the past two decades turning that combination into a credential no institution can manufacture. From the streets of Prospect Lefferts Gardens to the U.S. headquarters of TD Bank. From a Department of Correction policy table to a fireside at one of the world's largest technology conferences. The through line isn't luck. It's the kind of credibility that only comes from actually building something.
In 2016, he set out to answer a question no one else was asking out loud: where do Black men go to build together? The Gentlemen's Factory was the answer. What started as seven men in a room became a nationally recognized institution spanning 18 states and 5 countries — with a $2.5 million government workforce contract, hundreds of careers launched, and a model that kept running long after Jeff stopped being the only person in the room.
What followed — the media appearances, the policy invitations, the speaking stages, the board seats, the international conference invitations — wasn't the plan. It was the result. That's what happens when you build something real and let the work speak before you do.
